What to visit in Tarragona

This list of the bestplaces to see in Tarragona will help you plan your itinerary through one of the most interesting and historic cities in Europe.

Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea to Tarragona came the Roman legions led by the great general Scipio the African in the year of 217 BC, to turn it into Tarraco, one of the great cities of the Roman Empire outside of Italy, from where the Romans administered much of Hispania (Iberian Peninsula) and where they carried out great constructions such as the Amphitheatre, the Circus or the Aqueduct, which have survived to this day.
This architectural complex, declared a World Heritage Site, is one of the main tourist attractions of the city, next to the old town and the fishing district of Serrallo.
